NEWS: ANNUAL SLOBS GATHERING - HORNSBY

If anyone is interested in catching up with other Leo’s Oldboys, there is an annual lunchtime event held at Hornsby RSL Club every November during the week following the Melbourne Cup.

In 2024 the event was held at 12:00pm on Thursday 14 November with about 40 attendees including John Nicholson and
Br Brian Berg (93 and still as sharp as a tack!).

This is an informal get-together open to Leo’s Oldboys from any year to catch-up with one another.  It is organised by Michael Conaghan (from the year ahead of us) and, thanks to his efforts, has been a regular gathering for many years.  It is slowly recovering after a brief lapse during Covid.  Last year there were around 40 attendees from multiple years, including four from the 1964 Leaving Certificate class!

No bookings or tickets required. Just show up, see who’s there and enjoy yourself.

2024 – 55 YEAR REUNION

2029 REUNION!

By popular demand, the next reunion, for those of us still standing, will be held on Thursday 25 October 2029 from 1pm until 4pm – probably in some aged care facility but hopefully in a quiet, conveniently located club! Please let us know if you change your email address in the meantime.”

The Chapel is a popular venue with plenty of seating, tables and standing room, easy to move around. The food, like us, will be better than 1969! Hearty, healthy, tasty, but not too flash. Yard-long pizzas (Margherita and Mediterranean), Aussie pies, sliders (pork belly and wagyu beef), fish ’n chips, satay chicken skewers, tarts, fritters, salads. Plenty of vegetarian and plenty for everyone.

Forget Bradman’s baggy green cap. This is the cover of our 1969 Yearbook, which, as we all know, is one of the rarest relics in Christendom. Go through it on the night to rekindle those schoolyard memories (while we still have minds that can remember). Look in the PHOTOS page for reminders of your former glory! Send in school photos to amuse us all.
Groove the night away to the greatest decade in the history of music, the Fabulous Sixties. We’ll have a classic soundtrack playing, with a special nod to the great rock hits of 1969. There may even be a special guest performance of the old school song, and the new version, if we have a winner for our Moët rewrite comp!
